Heather draws on strategic planning, mindfulness practices, forest therapy, grief education, and facilitation to meet clients exactly where they are. Meet Heather
Heather Burt is a resourceful leader who is dedicated to fostering connections and empowering individual and team professional development based on high standards and the appreciation that all people offer unique talents and perspectives.
As the General Manager of Rising Tide Co-op for nine years, Heather propelled the company to over eleven million dollars in sales, an 86% increase during her tenure. She accomplished this by encouraging innovation and resiliency among team members, prioritizing and guiding the professional development of the board of directors, facilitating operational updates and standardized systems, and navigating challenges like the pandemic with a positive attitude. Key to her success was her commitment to intentional listening and the empowerment of the people around her.
Previous Experience
Prior to Rising Tide, Heather was the Executive Director of FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools) and in her capacity supported the expansion of programs in schools, helped to develop a professional board of directors, and co-authored grants to raise the funds to build a community teaching kitchen where students were bussed for cooking classes and SNAP and other classes were offered.
In addition to working for boards of directors as an executive, Heather served on the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three years and in her 20’s was a member of the International Institute for Humane Education Board. She also founded her own nonprofit, C.U.R.E. (Compassion Unlimited Respecting Everyone) that focused on the positive impacts we can all have through our choices as consumers, and started and co-owned a mission driven café and catering business, Tikvah.
Heather is committed to making the world a better place through fostering genuine teamwork in organizations, elevating individual and group wisdom and authentic communication, and facilitating dynamic harmonious relationships. She utilizes her skills as a Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Grief Educator to create an atmosphere that is favorable to productive dialogue and growth of all kinds.
